I have been supporting the efforts of the Dublin 4 Educate Together start up group to get a new school set up in the Sandymount, Ringsend and Irishtown area. Demographics indicate that there will be a need for a new school by 2014 and it is crucial that local parents have as broad a choice as possible when deciding which school to send their children to. Launch of student Rent Book highlights need for deposit protection scheme

Thousands of students are beginning their search across Ireland for accommodation having accepted their college courses; and the launch yesterday of the student rent book highlights the need for a deposit protection scheme. I hope that by this time next year, along with the launching their Rent Book for new students, USI and the Private Rental Tenancies Board (PRTB) will also be informing them of how to use a statutory rental deposit protection scheme.
